About CMNCP

quoteFM_4_ENGLISH

The Canadian Municipal Network on Crime Prevention (CMNCP) brings together urban, rural, and Indigenous communities across Canada to build capacity, prevent and reduce violence and crime, and foster community safety and well-being (CSWB) through training, research, knowledge exchange, and expertise.

CMNCP is a Canadian voice of municipally led approaches to crime prevention and community safety.

Together, we:

  • Maintain dialogues on common issues, trends, evidence, best and promising practice, and new initiatives.
  • Coordinate collaboration, knowledge building, evidence sharing, and training.
  • Work with communities to assess local community safety challenges, create plans, and develop crime prevention initiatives.
  • Partner with different orders of government.
  • Support policy and program development.
  • Increase the expert knowledge and skills for planning, coordinating, and implementing crime prevention and community safety initiatives among municipal staff.
  • Foster leadership and engagement among municipal authorities to promote community safety and well-being based on existing evidence and collaborative initiatives.
